Juice fast crash!

I completely crashed this evening. Today is day 3 of my juice fast. I got a headache that continued to get worse, shakey, snapping at the kids, just wanted to close my eyes and pass out. It was a nightmare. I thought I would die. I don't know if I over reacted. I have no one here to help or support me or watch the kids. My husband is out of town on business today. I broke down and rushed a handful of raw, unsalted almonds in my mouth. I think the protein was lacking. I also ate an avocado mixed with lime juice and dipped with cucumbers. I think my blood sugar was going crazy. I don't want to do a fast ever again! I want to drink fresh juices, but not have that be the only thing. Tomorrow I may start with juice, but I'll work on a raw veggie and nut diet to transition back to eating cooked foods. I'm feeling seriously run down and defeated. I know nothing.

Juicing

I started a juice detox diet this week. I'm not going to lie. It flippling sucks! I started it because I found myself on a bad path with coffee and a gigantic amount of creamer, about 2 pb&honey sandwiches and way too much food throughout the day. Too much too much. I was gained 8 lbs in the past 2 weeks! My hands and feet were so swollen. I'm sure that is because I had too many margaritas on cinco de mayo and the bag of chips I ate over a 2 night course with some avocado watching the Tudors on netflix. I woke up Monday mornng and felt terrible. I had no energy to do anything and I have SOOOO much to do before Finley's birthday. I always have too much to do. So, Monday morning on the way to dropping off Finley at preschool, I hadn't yet had breakfast and I just decided enough was enough! I called Lisa Gorski, who graciously loaned me her juicer. I picked it up 5 minutes later, brought it home and cleaned out my fridge by juicing all of the veggies and fruits I had on hand. The first random mixture I made, not bad. It had apples, spinach, romaine, broccoli and I can't remember what else. The second...ah...I could have done without the green onions. By the evening I was regretting my decision. I had a moment of weakness when Eli was eating dinner and my flipping hands were shaking making PB&Js for the boys. I vented on a message to Bridget Leigh Pugh who I love and trust and know went down this path. She called me. I made more juice, drank some water and was ready for the next day. Boy was I stoked to see 3 lbs down the next morning. I decided to make some Mean Green, since that is all the rage. It was NASTY! I decided to customize it so that I will actually drink it. Thank you so much to Erin Hein for making the boys lunch! Making dinner wasn’t too disturbing that evening. By the evening though, I was feeling terribly run down and venting to my mom and husband that I wasn’t going to continue. Gwen Flory was over and we made juice to drink. That kept my mind off of it and by bedtime I decided I might give it another day. So here I am on Day 3. Down 2 more pounds. I’m feeling a lot lighter and more motivated. I still have a ways to go. I don’t know that I’m going to make it 7 days, but at this point, I know I can make it 3. I’m going to take it one day at a time.
